Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) Programs

Young Scholars Prep Inc. prepares students for both the middle level and upper level SSAT exams. Our program consists of a combination of proprietary and published materials.  Our classes do not surpass 7 students. They are kept small to maintain the effectiveness of our program.

We focus on effectively preparing students for entry into some of the most coveted schools in Ontario. We offer both SSAT and Private School Assessment Preparation for the following:

Co-Ed Schools:

  • De La Salle College (in-house assessment)

  • University of Toronto School (in-house assessment, SSAT optional)

  • The York School (SSAT)

  • Toronto French School (SSAT)

All Girls' Schools:

  • Bishop Strachan (in-house assessment)

  • Branksome Hall (in-house assessment)

  • Havergal (in-house assessment)

All Boys' Schools:

  • St. Andrew's College (in-house assessment)

  • Royal St. George's College (in-house assessment)

  • Upper Canada College (in-house assessment)

.The SSAT Middle Level and Upper Level Breakdown:

  1. Creative Writing - 25 minutes (not graded but sent to private schools for evaluation)

  2. Quantitative - Part One and Part Two - 50 questions at 60 minutes

  3. Reading Comprehension - 40 questions at 40 minutes

  4. Verbal - synonyms and analogies - 60 questions at 30 minutes

The total time is 2 hours and 35 minutes without breaks.

Scores:

  • Lower Level Test (Grades 3-4) Lowest score is 900 points -- Highest score is 1800 points

  • Middle Level Test (Grades 5-7) Lowest score is 1320 points --Highest score is 2130 points

  • Upper Level Test(Grades 8-11) Lowest score is 1500 points-- Highest score is 2400 points

Unlike the flex exam, the standard exam does not make any accommodations for students with learning impediments. A child writing the regular SSAT exam can write either the standard exam or the flex exam.
